Wax and razorblades, 37”x69”, 2024

The top of this painting sat around my studio for a while, and then I painted the knots on the bottom for no other reason than I wanted to paint some knots. Then I realized they belonged together. Still I couldn’t think of a name for the thing. Time passed. Steve Albini died. The new Shellac came out a few weeks after he died. And this line was the last thing on that record. Sometimes you gotta wait for things to come to you. Patience. Everything is interconnected. Everything is a nest of knots. We all end up in the same place, together.
